Yoga and hiking retreat in Saltoluokta
Sign out and relax with a 4-day long mountain retreat
Welcome to a small and personal mountain retreat in the peaceful and pristine mountains of Laponia World Heritage site. Our mountain retreat starts and ends with one night at Saltoluokta Mountain lodge, located right by the foot of the mountains. We focus on morning and evening yoga in the cozy yoga room before we continue our hike across the mountains to Petsjaure Sami settlement.
Our idea is to leave all demands from our daily life and enjoy spectacular mountain views and recovering yoga in a calm and pristine area
During the hikes you can expect shorter yoga- and meditation classes sitting directly on the ground, maybe by the side of a mountain lake or on the top of a mountain. Our Yogaterapeut, Petra Kalla, beautifully adapts the yoga and meditation classes to wishes and needs in the group.
Join us and experience:
- To sign out and relax in a peaceful environment
- Yoga and meditation up in the mountains
- A mountain SPA in a wood heated sauna
- Staying in a Sami settlement
- Hiking in the midnight sun

In the afternoon we take some time to relax and enjoy the view. Maybe we enjoy a yoga class on the beach, just enjoy the silence or go for a refreshing swim in the lake? For those who would you’ve the chance to try smoked fish caught in the lake. If you prefer vegetarian or vegan food there will be alternatives.
For those who would like a more challenging hiking day, there is a possibility to go for a peak ascent along the way to Pietsaure. Or an optional evening tour to a waterfall a couple of kilometers from the Sami settlement.

Common asked questions and answers
How heavy will the backpack be? ?
As part of your hiking experience you’ll carry your own backpack with your private clothing and part of the common food and equipment. When we hike to Petsaure your backpack will weigh at the most 5-8kg, depending on how much you choose to bring. Luggage that you don’t need on the hike can be left at Saltoluokta. Remember to bring a backpack big enough to fit some common food and equipment.
Do I have to be very fit?
Our longest hiking day is 8 kilometers along a path. The path has some change in altitude, is a bit uneven and rocky, but overall relatively easy to hike. Please read through our requirements to join the group and don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
How much yoga experience do I need?
You’ll need no earlier experience of yoga or meditation. All classes can be adapted to your level.
Will there be a lot of mosquitoes?
There will be mosquitoes. How much depends on the temperature and how much rain we get during the weeks before our yoga and hiking retreat. But also how windy it is during the week that we are out. We do our best to have breaks to rest or to do yoga or meditation where there is a light breeze that keeps most of the mosquitoes away. If you are sensitive to insects we recommend that you bring a mosquito hat and repellent. If you are allergic, please discuss with your doctor if you should bring some antihistamin.
I have high blood pressure; can I still go?
We don’t automatically say no just because you have a medical condition but it should not be a high risk factor for you or the group. We recommend that you talk to your doctor and make sure you have medication that you know works well for you. AND please let us know when filling out the application form and we can discuss this with you before we head out.
I am a lactose intolerant; can I join the group?
We are used to handling most food preferences and allergies, just let us know when filling out the application form. BUT with limited cooking space we can’t handle too advanced requests or guarantee that it will be totally free from gluten or lactose etc. If you have a severe allergy please contact us to discuss this with us.
