A weeklong activity package with accommodation in Jokkmokk

Jokkmokk winter market holiday is a weeklong activity package including accommodation at the guesthouse right in the center of Jokkmokk winter market. Enjoy the music and the atmosphere at the market place and try local food from the stalls. Outside the days of the market you will get to try a variety of winter activities. Experience sliding through a silent winter landscape on a sled behind eager sled dogs. Search the sky for Aurora Borealis and different star constellations. Visit a local reindeer herding family and learn more about the Sami culture. Meet their reindeers and listen to stories around the fire.

Already over 400 years ago people in the north gathered around Jokkmokk to trade fur, silver and other necessities. In the winter, the lakes where frozen and it was easy for merchants to travel longer distances. In the beginning of the 17th century the Swedish king wanted to control the northern territories and saw this as an excellent opportunity to establish a permanent market place to be able to draw taxes from the people. Jokkmokk winter market is still a yearly event and has developed to a festival including both the market place and different winter activities.

We want to give you the best experience of Jokkmokk winter market but also to enjoy different winter activities around Jokkmokk
